PGA Tour: The Masters in November, Fall Colors and No Fans!

The world of sports has been greatly effected by the COVID-19 pandemic and some professional sports have been forced to move major events around. The PGA Tour decided months ago that the 2020 Masters golf tournament would still continue on with no fans on the grounds in Augusta, Georgia. This long time famed event is almost like a religious holiday for golf fans, with the Masters always played in the second or third week of April. The grounds will look different, feel different, and the atmosphere will be like a ghost town with no fans present where in the past its known for the loud Sunday final round roars. Fall colors will be in effect and temperatures will be much cooler than normally when its played in November this week! We talk about demographics a lot in sport management and how spending can effect the local economies with major events coming to town. The city of Augusta will be effected with a major event that comes to its town every single year and the local economy thrives off this single four day event. This year will be very different and interesting to see what the outcome brings in the end to the surrounding economy.
